Glioblastoma

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive type of cancer that originates in the brain. It develops from glial cells, which normally support the health of the nerve cells within the brain.

There is no known method of preventing this cancer. Treatment usually involves surgery followed with chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Stem cell-based therapies for GBM have shown early promise as brain tumor treatments.

The Alpha Stem Cell Clinic at UC Irvine has successfully conducted stem cell clinical trials for GBM, and will continue to work with other stakeholders to bring more clinical trials to our community.
